David Young
Project Manager
David Young is a Project Manager at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). His research activities focus on examining and analyzing energy and carbon policies in order to help energy companies plan their strategies for investing in new generation. He is also working on modifying and applying EPRI's US-REGEN climate model to other countries.
Before joining EPRI in June 2011, Young was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Auckland Business School Energy Centre. His work there focused on designing and programming an agent-based simulation model of the New Zealand wholesale electricity market to predict electricity prices. He also conducted multi-disciplinary policy and theoretical electricity market research as well as working as a visiting lecturer teaching a class in competition policy. Prior to that, Young was an economics researcher at the California Institute of Technology, where he developed software to investigate electricity market design issues experimentally, using human subjects to play the role of market participants.
Young received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and mathematics from the University of Canterbury. He received Master of Science and Ph.D. degrees in social science/economics from the California Institute of Technology.
