James Merrick
Project Manager
James Merrick is a Project Manager at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). His research focuses on analyzing the effects of potential climate policy on the United States economy and energy sector using EPRI-developed modeling tools. Merrick is incorporating energy technologies such as wind, solar and electric vehicles into EPRI's US-REGEN model to analyze the implications of these technologies on both the supply and demand sides of the United States electric sector at a regional level.
Prior to joining EPRI in October 2010, Merrick worked as a graduate research assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Energy Initiative, where he developed a partial equilibrium power sector model to analyze the economic, regulatory and technical implications of large-scale solar power deployment. Before that, Merrick was a project engineer at IE Consulting Engineers, where he managed civil and environmental engineering projects focused primarily on water and wastewater treatment.
Merrick received a Bachelor of Engineering degree with a focus on civil engineering from University College Dublin in Ireland. He received dual Masters of Science degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one in technology and policy and one in electrical engineering and computer science.
